A minor health issue. Help?

So I've a question - hoping someone here could help. For about the last ten days I've been so bloated I look like I'm pregnant. I'm fairly slim to begin with, so it's VERY noticeable. My pants won't due up and my shirts are too tight - I've managed by wearing pyjama pants and huge sweaters. But I can't do that forever. This problem isn't period ( Read more... )

Could it be water retention, as in you might need a diuretic?
That's the first thing that could come to my mind...
Are your ankles or fingers swollen?

I hope they can help you at the clinic :)

I don't think I'm retaining water - fingers and ankles aren't swollen, or anything. Went to emerge today... decided that was better than the clinic... but my nurse said she couldn't even ask for blood work because I'm in no pain. I apparently don't fit into anything she's learned about/seen before. Great, eh?

I'd definately go to the doctor to be on the safe side...but when I get real bloated like that (and I know exactly what you mean because I'm real slim too and it DOES look like pregnancy), it's usually water retention or (eew) gas. And the second one could definately be caused by the change in food. But that also seems like a long time to have that, so I would go to the clinic for sure. Good luck!

I HATE looking like I'm pregnant. I mean - I love my pyjamas, sure, but I don't want to live in them 24/7!

I'm hoping it's just the change of food. I don't have gas and I don't think I'm retaining water - fingers and ankles aren't swollen, or anything. Went to emerge today... decided that was better than the clinic... but my nurse said she couldn't even ask for blood work because I'm in no pain. I apparently don't fit into anything she's learned about/seen before. Great, eh?

Thanks for the ideas.

It could be you trying to get used to the foods again, but I'd suggest going and getting checked out.

Have you tried anything like a diuretic or perhaps something for gas? Try some beano and see if that helps?

Well, I went to the hospital today. Mom and I left after about two hours because their was a huge waiting line and I certainly wasn't on the priority list. Also, my nurse said she couldn't even ask for blood work because I'm in no pain... and I apparently don't fit into anything she's learned about/seen before. Great, eh? So didn't get a diuretic or anything like that... I think I'm going to make an appointment with our family doctor.
