Today.

The 21st Day of July in the Year 2007.

Possibly the greatest active football player, and maybe even one of the greatest in all of history, made his American MLS debut, coming to the country where the World's Sport has been played in the shadows of the Rich, the Corrupt, and the No Longer Sporting Games we call American Sports.

Just wanting to note that I indeed love soccer, and think Beckham is quite fantastic and talented, I'd just like to point out.

The man has definitely waxed his body,
and 10-1 he's manicured his fingers.

Soccer is fantastic, but I take offense that you think that football is less harsh just because there are pads- without the pads in football you'd have more brutal injuries than you already do.

and soccer players have pads on their shins, btw...

Soccer is my favorite sport, and I hope it catches, but I don't think someone who is as personally controversial as Beckham, in a society as scandal obsessed as the US, will be the sole force to bring it up in the US in status...

It was a hyperbole...

Not meant to be taken literally.

Beckham is the start of it all: He is a huge name, internationally recognised, and he will pave the way for other MLS Clubs to acquire other big names in football, such as Juan Pablo Ángel in New York, which will bring bigger crowds, and introduce more and more people to this sport, which as I said, as been in the shadows for too long.

Yes, without pads, Football would have some brutal injuries...Much like Rugby. Yet, I do not see horrific news stories about Ruby players being killed, or being maimed, and quite frankly, I never really understood why we have pads in football...We seem to do fine in Rugby.
