What software do you use to make animated (.gif's I assume) icons?

I've been on a really snapshot kick in WoW. I've got one of Callistra that might make a good animated.

We use Macromedia Fireworks. I believe Macromedia still offers a free 30-day trial of the program.

And.. *cough*... I hear that there are cracks available that make it think you're perpetually in the trial period.

You can use the animation shop with paint shop pro, but Fireworks is far better....
