All day I'm like, "Why has no one updated their LJ?" and I go to post this, and it turns out LJ has logged me out. Damnit.

Anyway I hope and pray this is the last part. Though maybe it should've been the first part?

Thor flying only because of the pull of his hammer always amused me for some reason - like, just thinking of the physics of it :D

Thanks for these posts, they have been very informative - I'm only really familiar with Millar's Ultimates run but I can't say I'm an expert about the 616 canon for the Avengers. I am excite for the movie!

That's why I love it so much. And how he twirls the hammer beforehand like he's warming up an engine.

Contrary to popular believe, Thor cannot fly. He throws his hammer really hard and holds on.
Wait... how does that... how does that work?! XD *brain broken*

In the movieverse, it stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. In the comics it has meant, Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division and Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate. Basically, Marvel wanted an organization called SHIELD and put random important sounding words together to form that acronym.
LOLOLOL I was going to say... those are some mega unwieldy acronyms.

This series of posts was very cool. :)

It works... because he is a god? It doesn't make any sense; that's why I love it SO MUCH.

He throws his hammer really hard and holds on. That made me literally lol.

I have only seen Iron Man 1 and 2, of all these movies. Clearly I need to get on it! Are the Avengers in the same universe as the X-Men, or are they seperate?

Separate in the movies. Same in the comics! But Fox has the rights to X-Men, so they couldn't put Wolvie in Captain America. D:

Also, I'm still pouting about Ed Norton not being in the movie. Like, I can't get over it.

Not only does he throw the hammer to "fly", but he throws that hammer with enough force to fling his 600+lb ass into the air. Because Asgardians are triple-dense. They weigh three times as much as a human of the same size and build. Which means comic-Volstagg weighs half a ton!
