Fans like to look at things. And if you have things fans like to look at, the
Escapade art show wants them! Escapade is the longest-running slash con in the world (now in its seventeenth year), and Escapade's world-famous art show is in search of fannish things to display!
The Escapade art show is your place to display and sell (or not, if you prefer) your objets d'fandom: artwork, crafts, tie-in items, t-shirts -- whatever it is, we want it, and the con members want to admire it! (Sometimes they drool, but we keep them tidy.) We accept both new items and resales from your collection, both originals and prints, both slashy and non-slashy (though note that slashy sells better, since Escapade is a slash con); basically, we're h0rs for your fannish stuff, okay? You don't even need to be at the con to put things in the art show; you can mail them in or send them with a friend who's coming. You give us your stuff, we do all the work of displaying and selling it, and you go home with fame and fortune! Or you can designate one or more of your pieces to be sold for the benefit of the convention charity,
Good Hearted People/JobSmart. It's that simple. Almost.
If you'd like more information, or you're interested in displaying or selling things in the Escapade art show, please comment here and tell me how to reach you, or drop me a note at shoshanna AT thisland.ca. There's a small bit of paperwork, which I can send you to fill out in advance, and plus I like to know in
advance who and what to expect. (But you are also welcome to just show up with stuff at the last minute; we won't turn you away.)
Lastly -- see up there where I said "we do all the work"? Whether or not you have art (or art-ish) things to show or sell, please consider volunteering for the equally world-famous Escapade art show staff! Volunteering at a con is a great way to meet people and get involved, and the art show is a great place to work. Some filing, shorthand not necessary, good legs a plus. Write me!
