Well, boys and girls, your old pal Manny-man has been working as a salesman for abiout 4 months now. I can honestly say that I wish I had been nicer to my reps while I was a buyer. Although having been on the other side, if I am reading your post correctly, makes you uniquely qualified to do what you're doing. You know how they think! So you can cut through the junk, be honest with them and ... perhaps ... develop a relationship that just might turn into something profitable. I imagine it would, after awhile. And of course, I will keep you in my prayers!

That's been one of the major tools I have in my tool-kit when meeting with customers and potential customers. I even bring it up sometimes to put that at ease. People may like to buy, but they rarely like to be sold to. The key is to do exactly what you're saying. . . build a relationship. I'm hoping to position myself not just as a copier salesman, but as a business partner who wants to help them succeed when it comes to their document imaging. The sales will happen on their own if I get that part right.

Learning a new career has had its share of growing pains, but I do feel likle I'm growing. Just wish it would happen faster!
