The following is a description of what I consioder the best way to create dreads, based on personal and other's experiences. ( How to make AWESOME dreads )
i have very short hair right now (just shaved my head in August) but my goal is to grow it out and perm it and then eventually dread it. (I have jew-hair, so it's corse but doesn't get nappy easily) Your accIount is the most in-depth I've seen, can I "memory" it so when my frizzed-out mop gets long enough (probably this time next year) I can use it? Also if you need a place to host pics I have one, or if you can email me some, I'd like to see how it all worked out....the pattern, etc. I love dreads.
You are more than welcome to memory this if you want. :)
I will be around next year too, so when you get ready to do the deed, let me know, and I'd be happy to go over everything I know with you. You will almost DEFINITELY want to have someone else do your dreads though, as it will keep them more even....it's just easier when you can see everything being done without having to use a mirror.
plus, I can show you how to make the salt spray.
I'll email you pics if you want, but we could actually meet up one day and I can show you sebastien's dreads and maybe even brian's dreads in person.

um yeah basically....that'd be hot! with twelve t's! :) Are you going to be around during turkey-day-break? I'll be here all week/end and stuff, we could grab some coffee our something
found you from dreadgrrls I was told by someone who had dreads to after the first time putting wax in my hair to never do it again. I got away from the sea salt spray because it made my head horribly itchy, and I have only waxed my hair once after the first time. What % of seasalt and rosemary and etc did you use because i would love to get these dreadies even tighter! Thanks :) K

the sea salt is a finicky thing, sometimes. It's easy to make, but you have to adjust the amount of salt to your personal body chemistry. Sebastien has oily hair, and uses a high concentration of salt every other day almost, with no ill effects (to my knowledge). However, salt can easily irritate sensitive scalps. If so, use as low as a tablespoon in about 3-4 cups of water, and as much herbs as you want. (herbs usually don't cause itching unless you're allergic to them, and you can vary which herbs you use according to personal taste

heh.
they are a shitload of work...and for a long time too.
plus, people judge you for having them, of course.
I always get people saying stupid things (to sebastien) like "I would just love to have awesome dreads like yours, but I could never go that long without washing my hair!" and boy, do I just wanna smack the crap outta those people. he "washes" his hair more than *I* do and *I* don't have dreads! I have dry hair, and he has oily hair, so i wash my HAIR a couple times a week, and he rinses his dreads almost daily, and uses and antibacterial spray. silly humans!
can you email me, and then I'll remember to email the pics? I've been so crazy busy lately, i'm afraid i would unintentionally forget? just drop me a line like "yo, beotch, don't forget to email the pics of dreaddies, f00!" ;)
