What To Do About "The Slave Thing"

Sep 29, 2004 02:02

So here's the deal - my nickname with all my friends (which of course means allllll belly dancers in my life, including my students and past teachers even) has been Slave since sophomore year in high school. It has no sexual or political connotations to me, and everyone I really care about refers to me as Slave with no qualms. I was just given the ( Read more... )

hey, i saw your post on a community and i was wondering if you could tell me how trileptal is working for you, assuming that you take it for bipolar. I am just starting on it and can't really find any information, other than what the company has released. I would really appreciate this. You can either reply here or comment on one of my journals if you don't want it on yours. Thanks.

Hey, cool, nice to meet you. I haven't ever met anyone else on Trileptal, but then again I haven't really met anyone else taking mood stabilizers that often. I have been diagnosed as bipolar (about July 2002) and am now taking 900 mg nightly of Trileptal, with some Ambien for a sleep aid (highly recommend that stuff, woo ( ... )

I was diagnosed just a month ago, and we've tried lamictal and lithium, but i was vomiting all the time with both. So then he said the next best this is Trileptal. I just had my bc changed to Seasonale, and he looked it up and said it was okay.....maybe its different chemicals or something then usual bc pills? I am ramping up to 600 mg, but i'm only at 300 right now....i already do feel a sense that i have no emotions, except when it comes to the thought of having to try like 20 different medications and dealing with the side effects for even a few weeks. Do you ever wonder if maybe the numbness is how everyone is and that we just think its weird because there aren't the impulsive thoughts running through our heads, so we feel like we aren't thinking at all? I don't know, just my point of view ( ... )

I would also check with a knowledgeable gynocologist - it might not even be your own. i'm saying i strongly suggest if you're sexually active that you check with The Best Most Knowledgable Gyno in the area to find out his or her thoughts on your med combinations and make an informed decision on seasonal...and then let me know if it works because i really want to be able to skip a period, goddamnit! ;) The NuvaRing, I'm assued, works very well with Trileptal, and it's one of the coolest bc methods I've used...but you can't skip periouds on it like you can with the patches or seasonal. so definitely continue to look into that; you're doing a great job of staying on top of your meds and what your'e doing with your body right now, so good job, congradulations. it took me two years of stabilized normality before i got up the nerves and gathered enough information to become more active in my own treatment, which is a mission statement of my treatment facility's. They're great here, tho, and my pdoc's main objective is to keep me stable on ( ... )
