Heat wave? What heat wave?

Right now the temperature here in Wellington.nz is 6C with a wind chill of -3C. It was snowing this morning at my home (where we see snow on the ground about once every 10 years), several airports around .nz are closed due to snow, as are many of the main roads around the place, including State Highway 2 just around the corner where it climbs to 550m AMSL...

Right now 80F sounds real cosy to me...

That's right, I have a reader in the SOuthern Hemisphere!

I apologize for forgetting you, I and most of my readers are experiencing summer now. And the US just hopefully hit the end of a heat wave. A record heat wave - it is an extremely rare thing for nearly all of this continent-spanning country to be over 80 degrees. The weather maps were red - all of them.

Ironically, we ALSO had a record-breaking winter! The city I live in has gotten 100 inches or more of snow over the course of a winter only five times in the last three decades. And then we got over 100 inches this last year.

A good rain this afternoon broke the heat, but it's supposed to be terribly hot the rest of the week.

I haven't had a chance to look at the forecast for the rest of the week. I've been invited to a pool tomorrow.

Well, it was in the 90's Friday. And possibly Saturday (not sure, as I was in the woods with no thermometer). It was less muggy on Saturday.

Today was probably in the 80's.

And yes, I had a great time. Good game.

We did have one player who got heat exhaustion. That was scary.
