Thank you for your input, bb! I appreciate it! It's a lot of things, tbh. I'm definitely aware that the film had an agenda and showed just one side of a massive industry. For me, watching the sick cows being knocked over/dragged by forklifts, and seeing how the chickens are overfed to the point where they can't stand really upset me :( And just the fear in their voices when they were being killed. I also don't like how the more humane farmers are shut out/shut down because they refuse to overfeed, or raise their chickens in complete darkness. I have been kind of leaning this way for a while now, actually a long time. I just couldn't give up the taste. But watching that has totally cured me of that so I think I can eradicate meat from my diet now. Which is good, I think! Who knows, I might go back in a week or in 6 years but for right now, this is going to have to work for me. My stomach lurches whenever I think about eating any of it

Yeah, I'm not a full vegetarian any more, but I'm definitely on the side of the more humane farmers and try to buy meat that was made by 'okay' people, The overfeeding chickens comes with the mass-industry and it's horrible :( But I have to add that I LOVE meat, I might've not given up being a vegetarian if I hadn't missed it the way I did. So if you don't have the desire any more, that's pretty awesome ^_

My intense love of meat is what has stopped me from becoming a vegetarian even though deep down I have always had this niggling feeling that (for me) it's wrong and I shouldn't be eating it. I just couldn't give it up, I craved it. Now that desire is 98% gone. If I start to think about it and want it my mind automatically switches to the poor animals being hurt and mistreated and it's gone right away. I'm totally happy about it, if we're being honest. I think I'll be a LOT healthier without it and I am very suspicious of the growth hormones they use now and all that so I'm glad to kiss that goodbye!
Yayyy thank you for all of this! It's going into my recipe doc!
Yeah I will pay close attention to that. The last thing I need is to get sick! I looooove spinach, I have a feeling I will be eating a TON of it!
don't you have happy eggs in the usa? i only buy happy eggs from free range chickens. but the amount of eggs i eat is insignificant. i pester my mum about it, though. and since there's a free range chicken farmer in their village, they really should only buy there, i think

We do! But I was trying to eat eggs the other day and they made me feel sick, there was something weird and stringy in there and now I can't eat those either! But when I decide to try again I will try free range only :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH! All of this is deeply appreciated! ILU!
i burnt an egg trying to make fried eggs a while ago and the stench was so horrible that i refused to eat any of the not burnt eggs. that happens. how lucky you are i struggled to find veggie fast food in the usa, haha! walmart sold a couple of veggie soups and microwave dishes; and check out health food stores. in germany, they sellf chili sin carne and lovely veggie bratwurst and it's often cheaper than veggie stuff in supermarkets. if you can't find anything, you'll have to move to nyc, there was sooooooo muuuuuuuch veggie food in restaurants and supermarkets - i was in veggie heaven!!!
I don't have the time to read through the comments to see what the others suggested, but you can try and substitute meat with mushrooms, or cheese (halloumi is good). There should be a lot of recipes around. And you don't have to eat only pasta and potatoes either, try looking into quinoa, lentils stuff like that. http://www.libertylondongirl.com/category/food/ here's a link to give you some ideas!
Im pretty sure Ive told you about this but you should read the book Eating Animals by Jonathan Safron Foer. It was the best discussion Ive ever heard or read about the pros and cons of going vegetarian. And as someone who works in the vet industry Ive heard every argument both for and against and this was the most logical and reasonable. Hes srsly one of my favorite authors- Everything Is Illuminated is another awesome book by him that has nothing to do with vegetarianism.
