I've been talking to a computer for the last two hours, asking it complicated questions, and learning new things, even in my area of expertise (training neural networks). GPT4 is smart enough to read and write.
But it is not smart enough to think.
If the problem was already solved and published - it can write this solution.
If the problem was not solved&published yet - GPT is unlikely to solve it.
So yes, some of the jobs will be replaced by GPT4 or similar technology. But only low-level jobs.

The atmosphere was not set on fire.
Nuclear development stagnated.
GPT is likely to significantly progress in the near future, but we should not expect miracles.
