Wow I have not posted once this month. The slow death of LJ makes me sad but given 99% of fannish activity seems to have moved off of it it's difficult to see how to bring it back to life. Also I seem to have lost the ability to produce fannish works to post anyway!

I love your fiction, even if it appears seldom. I have times of great discouragement with my own, but I have resolved to keep trying. I would not dare to suggest what you should do, but if you make it available I will always read it.
I have thought the same about Merchant of Venice. I end up feeling sad for Shylock, but I cannot like him. It is written with a lighter touch than Marlowe's Jew of Malta, but JoM is so full of racist tropes that some think it may have been intended as a comment on anti-Semetic tropes of the day. I hope that is true, but I can't tell at all. It is a squirmy read even for someone who loves Marlowe. In the end we cannot know what they were thinking. The more I try to feel their world the more alien it feels.
Sailor boys with hands in pants are much easier. If I am the last person in an empty LJ, writing Hornblower smut into the howling void will you still come and read it?
