So, did everybody else cry at, "Congratulations, Mr. President"?

And "As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals."

It's still to bizarre to feel hopeful about politics. I keep expecting to wake up...

See my previous post. I feel as though my heart has grown three sizes today. And I don't really have a lot of other words. It's all so MUCH. Much of a muchness. I need some time to digest.

Everyone on the train this morning kept SMILING. And people were wearing Obama shirts and pins and stickers and it was like being in an entirely new WORLD.

Ugh, I know! Such an odd feeling, to feel like the person in office is really my president again. :D

I saw a car the other day with side-by-side "Not my president" and "Obama '08" stickers, and it cracked me up. We have an actual president again. A REAL one.

"As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals."

I cheered in my empty apartment at that. And Bush looked SO uncomfortable when he said it, too. Heh.

I was also thrilled at the line about giving science the respect it deserves. Thank God for a president who doesn't hate on smart people.

I was attempting to ignore Bush altogether. Our long, national nightmare of having a smug, arrogant, ignorant fuckhead in the highest office is over.

I was trying to ignore him but it started being too much fun watching him squirm. :)

HE SO DID IT WAS AWESOME.

Oh man I cheered so hard at that bit! And the science bit! And he mentioned nonbelievers! I can't stop being happy!

I know! I'm like, what happened to my cynicism? Where did this hopeful idealistic YES WE CAN person come from? But I like it *g*.

It's just so awesome. I taped the proceedings to watch when I get home tonight, but then ended up watching a lot at the gym, because it was on all the TVs. And then when I went to grab lunch after, everyone in the cafe was standing around the TV watching Obama speak. It was such a freaking amazing feeling.
