Most of my leverage fic bookmarks will be OT3, which is what I prefer; but if not, you can narrow things down with the proper tag, too! :)

This is maybe my most favorite Mad TV skit ever, esp the commentary on Literally.

My friend J. previously worked at an agency that took rough drafts of ads and product tags and made them into finished products. He was always trying to argue against language like what you've pointed out, including a lot of this kind of error:

What's it called when you use a non-descriptive pronoun before the actual noun? Apparantly it happens all the time.

Oh, god, that sketch. So painful and so true! I am all for the evolution of language, I am, but dear god.

One of the great "joys" of my job is explaining to authors that they can't actually just make up words, and that adding "ing" does not magically convert a noun into a verb. Most of them seem to think I'm just making up rules to make their lives difficult...
