I wanted to say something worth saying about the quite frankly horrifying response to Roman Polanski's arrest, because there isn't enough being said, there could never be enough said. But every time I try, I just devolve into incandescent rage and can't manage anything like coherence ( Read more... )

I've been reading so many articles/quotes related to this on Jezebel/the internet in general, and it sickens me. It fucking sickens me, and I'm just so...I don't. I can't even reply, I'm just disgusted.

I'm so fucking angry, and I feel so powerless... I'm watching this happen and thanking god my baby sister pays zero attention to current events because I can't imagine what this would bring up regarding her own molestation, and then I remember all the other women and girls, women who are survivors and women who will be, who having this shoved down their throat right now, and all the men who are learning yet again that women have no autonomy, that our bodies exist only for their gratification no matter how we feel about it, and I'm just fucking ILL.

The man drugged and raped a child. It doesn't get more clear cut than that, and still we rush to pity the poor rapist and demonize his victim. The entire fucking world is FUCKED.

Thank you thank you thank you.

I just sometimes need a reminder that the entire world hasn't lost their fucking minds.

To be honest, if Polanski gets off on a legal technicality or because of a logistical problem, then fine. It sucks, but I believe in honoring the justice system, because as soon as we start deviating, we get mayhem. But what is not okay and will never be okay is that anyone wants him to get off -- because he's a "good guy," or because he's a good artist, or because he's famous, or because it was a "little mistake" (no lie, I saw someone use those words) he made 30 years ago. People DEFENDING rape, let alone the rape of a child, is sickening and it is wrong. And the media whitewashing of his crime is ( ... )

Thank you for this.

He drugged and raped a child, admitted it, and was convicted. How in the world can anyone defend him, or say he should be given mercy?

He should do his fucking time. That's what he should do.

I have a hard time even reading about this, because it disgusts me so much. My daughter is 14, and the thought of her a year ago having these things done to her...well, frankly, it makes me murderous.

THANK YOU! For having the guts to not only say/write what you feel, and at the same time educate some of us about what is going on. I admit I've been living in a bit of a vacuum, but man, somehow I heard his name come up in the news and somehow wasn't paying as close attention as I should have ( ... )
