Random things in no particular order:
  • I think this is the longest time I've gone without posting in the (dear god) eight-plus years I've had this LJ. Though it's also the longest I've gone without a fandom, so I guess that makes sense. Stupid TV and its depressing lack of pretty boys in love.

  • I keep meaning to write an effusive love letter to Parks Read more... )

Hey there, lady, it's nice to see you around! ♥

Also, I'm having a bit of a lotrips renaissance right now, and confirmation that Dom was Billy's best man is intensely happy-making! THOSE BOYS. Best ever?

<3 You too, m'dear.

And yeah... I mean. OF COURSE Dom was Billy's best man--they are BFFs 4EVAOMG!!!1111 But after so many years of SPN, I tend to forget that there are actually pairings out there that don't end with the boys not giving a shit about each other, and it was just kind of amazing to remember that this many years later Dom and Billy still completely adore each other. BOYS.

I promise that the final FNL episodes are worth watching, even if you know that the end is there.

My lord Misha! Step away from engaging the crazy fans. UGH!

I've loved this season so far! I mean, with the exception of that unfortunate run in s2, I've loved the entire show, period, but I'm really impressed with how consistently they've kept up the quality as the cast has changed so much, and I'm sure the final episodes are brilliant. I just don't want it to be done!

Jim Beaver needs that advice, too. Poor man. He clearly has NO idea about the depth of the crazy he stepped into...

I think that the final episodes are just about the best thing the show has done in ages. But I hope you don't hate the ending.

OH SHIT JIM! I mean, I'm all for cons (see my Saturday), but I don't usually engage the actors like that in places like that.

WOMAN. I seriously was sitting in class today and planning on sending you an email just to make sure you were alive. I am glad you are alive, for the record.

DOM. BILLY. That makes me SO HAPPY OH MY GOD.

.........I don't even know what to say about Tom Hank's son doing that except that I end up getting a huge amount of meta in my head about what's happened to rap and how it's been co-opted to such a massive degree. And then I want to slap that kid SO HARD.

EDIT: Rachel, are you watching The Good Wife?

I am totally alive! Just not on LJ much these days.

And yeah, the Chet Haze thing is just gross on so many levels. Millionaire white kid from Pacific Palisades. Attempting to demonstrate how awesome he is by likening himself to the white police officers who beat a black man half to death without provocation and got off scot-free. DIE IN A FIRE.

I have yet to see The Good Wife! musesfool has sung its praises to me a few times, and I really need to check it out--one of the things that makes me happiest about Parks and Rec is that it's about smart, capable women being smart and capable, and I need many more shows like that in my life. I take it you're enjoying it?

You know, I just had a comment here that was too long for the comment field that I think I'm just going to turn into a post (which will probably go up tomorrow.)

But short answer: Yes. Yes I am. I honestly think it's one of the best shows I've ever watched on a variety of fronts including acting, character development, how women are portrayed and treated, and in social commentary. You want smart and capable women being smart, capable, and nuanced? This show has them, in spades. (edit: also, with bonus Josh Charles being HOT AS FUCK. Seriously, if I were given a choice between 48 hours in bed with either Dan Rydell or Will Gardner, I have no fucking idea who I would choose. AND I REALLY LOVE DAN RYDELL.)

I really honestly think you'd love it. I've been told by a lot of people that the first couple of episodes are slow (I didn't find them to be) but push though them because the first season was so damn good that I bought it brand new, full price, and it was one of the best purchases I made last year.

Yay, you're back! I only follow like 20 people, so I notice when one of them disappears :)

/creeper.

And speaking of SPN: Oh, Misha Collins, I do love you so. You deserve better fans. And a better show.

THIS. omg, and just when I think the crazy can't get worse. I'm particularly confused by this being Misha fans, though... I thought this was the whole reason we loved him???

Also, protip: you have to not put any line breaks in between your bullet points, because the < ul > tag inserts them automatically, so you end up with two if you do. It looks crazy messy in code, but it'll come out all pretty :)

Aww, thank you! It's lovely to feel missed :-)

And yeah, I don't... I mean. Misha's never exactly made a secret of the fact that he's trolling his fans for his own amusement (and I mean that in the best way possible--the man is utterly delightful). Getting pissed at him for it now, especially after having happily playing along for so long is kind of like getting pissed at Coco for posting pictures of herself in thongs after spending months publicly adoring her for all the thong pictures she posts.

I knew the ul tag inserts a space as long as you included a closing tag after each bullet, but I've never had them show up one way on my comment page a different way on my front page... not sure what's going on there.
