The president of my school told teachers and faculty that they have gone on to the worst case scenario of cutting over 400 classes. Things just keep getting more depressing, and the per unit cost will go up ten dollars to $36 ( Read more... )

California's school systems make no sense to me. I personally think college should be free, like it is in parts of Europe. But, if you're going to go with the student-tuition model, you have to do it right. They simply don't charge enough for classes, end of story. 10 years ago I paid $120 a credit at community college. Last I heard, our state university (Rutgers, in NJ) is like $600 a credit. No classes or departments are being deleted at those schools. California is the only state I know of that charges so little. Its super sad too because it screws everyone over. Arnold's education budget cuts didn't help either.

Sorry to rant but I hate seeing folks struggle with this. It was so annoying when I was there and I was lucky to be able to get out. If I lived where you lived though I might not have left!
