Winter blues

Dec 07, 2009 23:25

I have been feeling really sad recently. Stupid darkness everywhere. This is ridiculous. Any ideas how to deal with winter blues? I leave for work when it is sunny, but then when I leave work it is not. I do not work anywhere near a window.

And it is so. cold.

hmmm... yeah i'm having the same problem. if you do get sunlight in the morning, i would suggest waking up earlier for it.... it's totally worth it. Don't know if that happens where you are.... here it is pitch black until 8:30am which is pretty darn late, and then it gets dark again at 5pm. The rest of the day it is also very cloudy - I forget what blue looks like.

i've never tried full spectrum bulbs. making sure your evenings are busy/fun also helps... watch movies, tv shows, read... enjoy doing house-ly things. :)

The full spectrum bulbs might work. You might also look for a hang out with a lively lit up vibe too - like a coffee shop.

Also if you can bear it you might try bundling up and going out at night somewhere pleasant (a park or other natural setting). The night can seem a lot warmer and more inviting if you're able to experience it outside of the standard dark car ride home. It can help to reduce that feeling of cabin fever. Then once you start to get cold you go inside and have hot cacao.

If it's not too cold, wood fires with friends in the backyard are also awesome fun.
