I wanted to write a repsone to this... but I kind of wanted to know what you were getting at first. Care to indulge?

I think I was pretty angry when I wrote this. My point was that we are a very vunerable society. Our own security becomes overlooked and people become surprised when something terrible happens. There's been some recent success with foiling terrorist plots lately but that is only one group of killers. I just don't see how we can correct our own problems now :/ Do I know you Anonymooose?

What are we vulnerable to? Fear?
I was just curious as to why you thought those things. You didn't give many examples to prove your point.

Hmm I'll try to elaborate further for you. I live in Philly, murder capital USA. Why are there so many homicides here? I'm not sure but I think that poverty and education has a lot to do with it. Can something be done about it? Sure but it will never be completely fixed. The same can be said with terrorism. There would have to be a lot of profiling and descrimination to foil every plot. Right now they're using informants which seems to be working well, but how long will that last? I'm getting off topic here. Going back to serial killers. It's just too hard to distinguish who is full of shit and who is a leigitimate nutcase. What makes us vunerable is our own freedom.
