It was really awful. Regardless of how they felt towards my mother, my younger siblings had just lost their father figure. My mother was actually "uninvited" to the reception after the funeral.

At one point my stepfather's friend actually called my (basically) sister-in-law a "slutty bitch" for, you know, no good reason. I was just like "Really? at a wake...? really...?????

What the crap. Sometimes I just don't understand people--especially when they, like, wear clothes and walk upright and stuff even though it's glaringly apparent they were raised by wolves.

It never fails to amaze me how awful people can be to one another. I'm sorry your mother had to hear that, as well as your siblings. Great post.
