I've never thought about it but it'd be weird (considering my history) if I had. I have concerns about the ethics (although I think that's ultimately personal) and the health issues (higher cancer risk with the drugs) and then also what obligations you would feel to the child who might come of it (and how you would handle the possible scenarios around what their expectations might be).
I think you should just write a bestseller because, you know, that would be just really easy and stuff. That's totally what I'm going to do. You know, just write a bestseller like SNAP! like that.
Bestseller is definitely a good plan! I have an aunt who is constantly telling me that I should write a romance novel, because it would be such "easy money," and hey, I'm a writer already, right? Sigh.
I got accidentally pregnant with twins, so fertility has never been my problem :). Cash-flow, however, is and continues to a problem. I do not want any more children of my own, but also do not want to be screwed-up hormone-wise. Certainly don't want cancer.
It's funny, it's been reading infertility blogs and seeing how many struggles women go through to have children that made it more of a real idea for me, too. I never quite absorbed the idea before that you'd be giving people such an incredible gift.
Well, and my reaction is also colored by my negative feelings about the fertility industry in general so take it all with a grain of salt. But definitely read up about the kids of donor eggs/sperm because it's a bit of a brave new world but the research is showing that the kids want connection to their biological "parents." And you'd have to think about how your girls would think about it.
The entire question of kids resulting from the procedure is the part I have the most trouble thinking about. I know that sounds ridiculous, since it's the whole point, but lately I jsut see numbers like $5-7,000 and my eyes glaze over, you know?
