[005] Log: Danny Fenton, pogo stick challenge.

Jun 23, 2007 00:55

Who: Itsuki Koizumi and Danny Fenton
What: Using a pogo stick.
Where: Itsuki's neighbourhood.
When: A couple of hours ago.
Why: Fuji dare Koizumi to challenge someone to a pogo stick contest, and Koizumi challenged Danny.

Flying to Japan was a lot easier than Danny had thought. At first it looked like hell, but once he'd looked at the map better (and Sam baping him in the head), he saw that going west rather than east was going to cut a lot of mileage out.

Not to say he wasn't tired when he got there, oh no. He changed forms the moment he touched ground in the country of the Rising Sun and caught his breathe. Pulling out the paper where he'd written down Itsuki's address he pulled out his map. Getting the proper direction, Danny made his way to the train station.

Itsuki hear the bell ringing, and quickly went to answer. Danny had said he would be there soon, but he still hadn't believed him until he saw him standing on his door. He was incredibly impressed, to say the least. "I wasn't expecting to see you so soon, Danny." he commented, smiling. "Is traveling as a ghost usually this fast?"

It took a bit to find Itsuki's house, but thankfully the map he had (drawn out by Sam) and his brilliant sense of direction (cough) lead him there. he quickly rang the door bell. The whole idea of meeting a character in a show he ws currently very into screamed in big letters 'Awesome!' in his head.

Once Itsuki opened the door Danny grinned. "Usually, but I had to make a stop for lunch so sorry I'm late." He said casually.

"Oh, really?" Itsuki replied, visibly curious. He would have to ask Danny how that worked later. He hardly ever got Kyon to tell him about his time-traveling experiences, but an interview with a half-ghost might just make it up for him.

"Are you tired, Danny?" he asked, leaving the questioning for later. "Or would you rather do the challenge now?".

Danny nodded to him. This was so neat. He was actually talking to someone on TV. Which was a weird thing to be excited by, seeing how Danny was usually in the papers and what not back home. But, ah, whatever.

"I'm fine, I could use something to drink though. Do you have anything?" Danny asked. He wasn't all that tired, he had a nice rest on the train before getting to Itsuki's house.

"Oh, yes, how rude of me! Please come in." Itsuki moved to let him enter the house, closing the door behind them. "Please, make yourself comfortable and I'll bring you something to drink."

He went into the kitchen and got a couple of sodas, special brands you could only find in Japan. He also picked the pogo stick up from the floor, where it had fallen, and went back into the living room. "Here you go. I think it is supposed to taste like cucumber."

Danny walked in after Itsuki inviting him. Though, being unaware or tradition, didn't take his shoes off. Instead he found his way to the living room and looked around. It was surprisingly clean for someone around his age to be living in.

When Itsuki came back in he took the soda gratefully and chugged it down. It was about halfway through the can did he catch Itsuki's 'cucumber' remark. Danny choked as the soda suddenly started to taste like said veggie and coughed a bit. "That's really weird."

Itsuki chuckled a bit. "You think? I find it rather refreshing". He drank a bit before putting it on one of the random coasters in the table.

He then grabbed the pogo stick once again and showed it to Danny. "I got my neighbor to lend it to me". He said, smiling and ignoring all the pink in the toy. "I have never used one before, though. What about you?"

Danny wiped his mouth of stray cucumber soda and eyes the pogo stick. There WAS a lot of pink on that. Oh well.

"Nope! This is going to be an interesting contest." Danny said thoughtfully.

"It definitely will" Itsuki smiled, actually amused by the idea. "Shall we go then?"

After deciding pogoing in the house was a bad idea, the two headed out for the nearest park. Along the walk, Danny kept his gaze at everything he could. The city Itsuki lived in was pretty big, bigger than Amity, at least and was a hundred ways different. He was more than a little amused on how he couldn't make heads or tails of the signs.

Once they found a fairly empty black top (save for a few kids of course), at a decently sized park, Danny asked, "So, whose first?

Itsuki rubbed his chin, apparently in deep thought. In reality, he already knew who was going first. "Why don't you go, Danny?" he suggested, looking innocent. "I'd like for you to show me, since I've never seen anybody use one of these...sticks before." He smiled apologetically, hiding the fact that he wasn't eager to learn.

Danny thought for a minute and shrugged. "Alright." He took the girly colored stick and stood it up, placing one foot on one side and keeping the other on the black top.

Huh. Okay, so how was this supposed to work. He'd never used one of these blasted things, but he did see it on tv a lot. It couldn't possibly be that hard. He finally pushed off the ground and attempted to make it hop. This didn't work.

Thankfully his ghost powers kept him from hitting the concrete. After floating for a minute, he got back to his feet. "Hrm."

Itsuki was amazed when Danny started floating in the air. He considered asking him how did he make it work, but he stopped himself: there would be time for that later. Right now, they had a situation to deal with.

He grabbed the stick from the ground. "Allow me to try, Danny". Carefully, he put his right foot on the lower bar and tried to find a balance. He lifted his other foot and start jumping. One jump, two jumps... the stick went in the wrong direction, and Itsuki lost balance. Unfortunately, he didn't have any powers that would help him in this situation, and he fell to the ground with a loud 'thud'.

After a few seconds, he sat down, his back hurting. "Well...that didn't go well".

Danny stuck his hands in his pockets and watched Itsuki try his luck. his eyebrows went up when he actually got a hop ..and then two ...and then he was off. Danny rushed to try and grab him before he hit the ground (to make him intangible so he wouldn't hit the ground) but he wasn't fast enough.

Slightly cringing, Danny asked, "Are you okay?"

Itsuki got up, shaking the dirt from his clothes. "Yes, don't worry about it, Danny" he said, smiling in spite of the pain in his lower back. "I get hit worse every now and then".

He looked down at the pogo stick, which seemed to be daring them to try to jump on it again. "Is this a common toy in the United States? It doesn't seem too safe."

Danny thought for a minute. "I don't know if I see to many use it, it on TV all the time though," It was the truth, though, he really didn't grow up like many kids. His first toy was ghost themed thanks to his parents obsession.

He reached his hand out, offering to try it again.

Itsuki handed it back to Danny, smiling. "I wonder why Fuji-san decided to give me such a weird dare" he commented, rubbing his head. A few steps away, some kids had started watching and were snickering at their lack of ability. He sighed, slightly embarrassed.

Danny shot a glare at the snickering kids and took back the pogo stick. Setting it on the ground again he gave it one last go.

One hop, two, three, four ...and slip.

This time Danny hit the ground. The pogo-stick went flying and Danny muttered a few inappropriate words. "Okay, I give up. How many was that?"

Itsuki held back a chuckle. "Around four, Danny. I think you win". He walked over the pogo stick and picked it up: besides being covered in dirt, it was in perfect conditions. Which was more than what could be said of the two of them. "It seems we have been defeated by a pogo stick" He commented cheerfully.
"Rotten thing," Danny muttered. "I'll bet its haunted."

Whether or not he was serious or playing was hard to tell. Oh well, at least he'd won right? Maybe he got a prize or something. Standing back up he dusted him self off and bent back, popping a few bones in his spine.

Itsuki chuckled, visibly amused. "Perhaps it is. It wouldn't surprise me".

He walked over Danny, pogo stick in his hand. "I think have some time before you have to go back to your city, right? Because I'm quite interested in knowing exactly how those powers of yours work..."
