Who: Itsuki Koizumi and Tsuruya
What: THEY BREAK UP
When: Wednesday, or something along those lines. Before Sunday, definitely.
Why: BECAUSE JAMI IS LEAVING SLDFHSLDFHLSDKFHLKDSFHLKSDF
Notes: This is incredibly sad. So you better read. =D

Itsuki leaned back on his chair, with the television on but not really watching it. There was only one thing on his mind: the whole speech he had gotten from his superiors at the Organizations. What was he thinking, they had said. The Tsuruya heir was not someone he should be getting closed with. There had been more recrimination to his action, but that had been the point where he had tuned out, until he heard his orders: no more contact with her unless it was completely necessary. And like a good employee, he had nodded, bowed and left. After all, there wasn't much he could do, right? He hated it, but going against the Organization's orders could be dangerous.

Suddenly, the phone rang.

Tsuruya had sat through the family meeting with an unwavering face. She wasn't smiling like she usually did, no she had a calm solid disposition as her family told her exactly why she could NOT be seen dating a boy from the 'Organization' they funded. Especially not one so low ranked.

She had fought, she tried with all she could to fight them. In the end, she realized that there was nothing she could do. At least not right now.

She picked up the phone and dialed a familiar number. She waited until she heard and soft voice in her ear and responded, "Itsuki-kun? Hi, It's Tsuruya..."

"Tsuruya-chan?" The first thing he noticed was how creepy the coincidence was. She really had good timing, didn't she? The second thing was her tone of voice, sad and clamed, so unlike her usual cheeriness. "How are you? Is everything alright?" Had she also been talked to? Or was there something else that was wrong? He desperately hoped she was just tired or something along those lines.

Tsuruya let out a small, light laugh when he asked her if she was alright. No not really, but she was going to say that to him. No, she ...she needed to do this. "I'm ...fine, Itsuki-kun. Are you busy?" She paused and wrapped her finger around the phone cord.

She definitely wasn't fine, he could tell. Everything about her sounded completely off. "Of course I'm not" Itsuki answered, and was suddenly reminded of his new orders the moment the words came out of his mouth. He decided to ignore them for the moment. "Did...did something happen, Tsuruya-san?"

Tsuruya flinched as she heard the sudden '-san' at the end of her name. She guessed that meant that he'd gotten the talk too. Well, this probably made the whole thing easier.

Not really, but she could think that, right? "I wants to meet you, is that okay? The restaurant that we-" She stopped, as if it was hard for her to say it now, "That we ....Got together."

Itsuki felt a pang of guilt when he noticed that he had used san. It had not been on purpose, and he could sense in her tone that it had only made her feel even worse. "Of course" he answered. "I'll see you there in a few minutes, OK?" He wanted to say something more; something that would make her sound happy again, but 'Take care' was the best thing that came to his mouth.

He was a terrible boyfriend.

As Tsuruya replied and hung up the phone she bit her lip. This was it.

She pulled on her coat and in a mad dash she ran out the door. She really wanted to get out of her house and even though her parents were probably frowning at the idea of her meeting the boy they told her not to speak to, she felt that this was something they needed to do in person.

She got to the restaurant quickly, and before Itsuki. She found the seat they had sat in that seemingly long time ago and tipped the waiter enough cash to not bother her while she was there. She sat down in the seat, hands clasped together, waiting for him.

It took Itsuki almost no time to get to the restaurant after hanging up. The moment he got in he saw Tsuruya sitting on their table, and felt striking pain going through his chest. She just looked...so sad. So unlike her. Almost by instinct, he walked over to her ready to hold her, but stopped merely inches away: His orders were once again going through his head. Instead, he closed his hands in fists and smiled without much enthusiasm. "Hi".

She looked up at him as he heard his voice. In truth, she saw him come in, and felt him as he got near her. Even that sudden stop, she saw.

Tsuruya gave him a smile, too. A light, sad smile that had taken a lot to show through. She needed to be strong for this. At least she could put on a smile to keep everything else at bay. "Hi," She said in response. She reached for one of his hands and led him to her seat.

Once he was sitting next to her, she threw her arms around him. "Just, one last time, okies?"

He let out a surprised sound when he was hugged (something along the lines of 'huh'), but recovered immediately, and in a second, he was returning it. Her words hurt him; because that was the confirmation he hadn't wanted to hear. He held tight on to her, ignoring the looks that everybody else was, once again, giving them. "I'm sorry" he whispered. "I wish I could do something about...this".

"Don't apologize, Itsuki-kun," She whispered back. She didn't pull away from him just yet; no she clung a little tighter, knowing this was probably the last time they would hug like this.

Finally, after a long moment she pulled away from him and looked him in the eye again. "But, I guess this means they already tolds you, huh?"

Itsuki let her go reluctantly, his arms still wanting to cling to her. He sighed, and looked back at her, his will to smile completely gone. "It was more like an order, actually" he answered. "It seems the Organization doesn't like the idea of one of their members dating the daughter of their major supporters". He placed his right hand on hers, softly rubbing his thumb on her skin.

"It was a mutual agreement," She said after he answered. "My family didn't want me dating anyones in your Organization," She left out the point they made about his low rank. She found that unnecessary. "Such stupid reasons, too." At this point she was starting to get angry and she clenched her fists tight. "I would have fought, if they hadn't told me the punishment for you, nyoro!"

Itsuki bit his lower lip, once again feeling sick of the whole situation. She would was so angry about it, and what had he done? Simply take his orders and accept them. He was starting to believe she would actually be better off without him. "It doesn't surprise me" he commented, and feeling her hand turn into a fist under his. Softly, he opened it up, trying to relax her once again. "Please, don't get in trouble over me. It's not worth it" he smiled at her, holding her hand in his. "I'm glad knowing you'd do that for me". He was feeling like such a coward, taking the easy route out.

As he took her hand and opened it up, she calmed down instantly. She didn't know what it was about him that could make her feel at peace like nothing else. She was suddenly sad that it was no longer going to be within her grasp.

She squeezed his hand and not liking how he said he wasn't worth it. "I don't care how much trouble I gets in, Itsuki-kun. You're more than worth it, despite what you say." She stopped and she opened her mouth. I love you, was what she wanted to say just then, but she held it. She couldn't say that just now.

"When I'm in charge, I'm changing all that."

Itsuki squeezed back, giving in way more than he should. Hearing her say those things really made him happy, in a way that he should be avoiding. "Thank you" He stopped himself, thinking. You're important to me, but not enough for me to go against the Organization. I wish we could stay together, but work comes first and all that. No, unlike you, I can't sacrifice myself for you.

It had an awful tone to it, so he decided to remain quiet. "I will be happy when that happens" he said instead, regarding her second comment. "I'm certain you'll make a better leader". He turned his head, and saw something he wasn't expecting.

A man from the Organization, watching them.

It was merely a couple of seconds, but Itsuki was sure he knew him. As if it was by instinct, he turned to Tsuruya, pulling her closer as if the man was a threat. "We're being watched".

Though while most would have turned to look, Tsuruya kept her eyes on Itsuki. She figured they were probably sent there by her father, who guessed where she had gone after storming from the house. It only brought back the anger she was feeling. She kept her temper in check thanks to what he'd said about her taking over the Tsuruya fortune

"Let them watch, we're ending it, aren't we? There's nothing they can do."

Itsuki looked at her, forgetting about the man. He was impressed by her bravery, something he couldn't claim to have. Tsuruya simply didn't care about things, and for a moment, he decided he didn't want to, either.

"Yes, they can't. In fact, let's give them something to watch". Without any sort of warning, he leaned in and kissed her, softly at first and then getting more into it. This would be their last kiss, of that he was sure, and he might as well make it something to remember.

Tsuruya could say she was pleasantly surprised when Itsuki suddenly leaned down to kiss her. He didn't strike her as terribly impulsive, but either way, this worked. She agreed. She didn't care what they thought.

She threw her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss with him.

Itsuki passed his hand around her hair, letting it get lost in those long strands. He was going to miss it, having her so close to him. The idea made him pull her closer, even if it was for just a moment.

But it wasn't long until he broke the kiss, desperately needing air.

She was reluctant to let him go despite the burning in her lungs for air. When she finally pulled away she looked at him and saw everything that could have been if it weren't for their jobs in their secret society.

Her face started to smile, but it was more cruel then anything. She hated this, the fact that they had to do this without them being unable to stop it. She sighed with an ironic laugh and shook her head letting go of his clothes finally.

She suddenly pushed past him and got out of the booth they were sitting in. Not facing him, she let out a quiet, "Bye, Koizumi-kun" before quickly leaving the restaurant.

Itsuki felt her letting go of him, and the only thing he thought of doing was the same, giving her more freedom of moving. But her laugh broke that weird trance in which he seemed to be in. HE felt her leaving, and started to reach out for her, wanting to hold her one more time.

But Tsuruya was gone before he could even lift his hand towards her. He remained there, motionless, hearing her say goodbye over and over again in his head, her teary voice burned into his head. Finally, he sighed and got up, slowly leaving the restaurant.

For the first time in a long, long time, he hated being an esper.
