Like everyone else has already said, reading about your travels is incredibly refreshing. It definitely is a nice escape from the drudgery of my current situation (an exam tomorrow morning).
I have to say, I really empathize with the ups and downs of travel. I cried a lot as well when I was in France, and I didn't even know why. All I know is that I came out of the experience feeling 10 years wiser. I cannot wait for your next post.
I was taking French language courses in a small city in the south called Montpellier. It was simultaneously the most heartbreaking and wonderful summer of my life.
I did go to Turkey, but I didn't have enough time to go along the Mediterranean coast. Man, that's the route you should take in the summer. Istanbul, Fethiye, Kas, Olympos... go sailing, eat awesome food, dig on history, ride horses, camp, party... whatever you want, Turkey's probably got it.
Nice! All those places sound awesome. There's a bunch of ways to save money. Just hitchhike and couchsurf everywhere you can. Both are easier to do for a male when you're with a female, so good thing you'll have Josie. People are usually pretty generous to foreigners.
