I was in Seattle last week with the fiancé and attended a really nice cocktail party on a terrace on Lake Washington, anyway, I struck up a conversation with a manager (mid-level) at Microsoft and it really kinda stood my hair on end! He told me quite a bit of what it is like working there and their management "style". Wow, are they crazy. And boy do they drive their employees crazy, especially now! I have never heard of technical professionals being treated this disgracefully. It's like they are trying to give you guys nervous breakdowns or something. It is so dysfunctional...
And then, after telling me, in detail, the "mushroom" theory of personnel development practiced at M-soft, he tells me that if he were to form a start-up company in this business, he would NEVER hire ex-microsoft employee's 'cause they get no significant O-T-J training! Guy, I cannot overemphasize, go get a Masters at some local university on a part-time basis ASAP. Your future career prospects really really depend upon this!
