Our Vietnam?

Did anyone else hear Bush's speech the other night about escalating the war towards Iran and Syria and sending thousands more troops to the Middle East? Did anyone else get the impression that he's parodying himself? It was so ludicrous that I couldn't even believe he was being serious. At the very least, the Court of Public Opinion has swayed ( Read more... )

If a nation poses a threat to us, just bomb the crap out of them from the air. After all, clearly no one in America or Europe cares about or is willing to give us credit for attempting to rebuild these nations.

No offense, but are you serious? Do you know how many constant and widespread threats against our country there are at any given time? Would you honestly rather have all out never-ending war than admit when mistakes were made, cut losses, and stop constantly focusing on sunken costs?

Only half-joking. In Iraq the best option might really have been "Send in troops, eliminate the despotic government, seal the borders, and let them fight it out amongst themselves." Or at least, it would have been a better option than "do nothing" or "Fight a war of attrition in a way that nullifies every American strategic advantage."

And more seriously, if the American liberal and international communities keep responding with Olbermann's style of criticism to the Iraq campaign, attacks without rebuilding will be the American military style for a while. 9/11 and the global economy have cut out the "peaceful isolation" strategy.

We shouldn't be trying to recover sunken costs, but if the war is winnable then it should be won. If not, then we should get out. The Dems should at least make a clear stand, because "We're losing the war, and we shouldn't start pulling out troops" is incoherent.

Wow. That was truly powerful. I have a lot of respect for that man.

I'll be honest, I haven't been keeping up with the news for the past week, so I'm a bit out of the loop.

This news is utterly ridiculous...I can't believe this asshole can still get away with this. "Diplomacy by skimming". I'm just trying to remain thankful for us regaining the house in November. His last hope?

P.S. Gasp! You made a post! :)
