A belated Happy Australia Day to all of my Down Under friends!

I know it's a day late for you guys, though. Unfortunately, I just heard about it on the news this morning so I wasn't able to send this yesterday.

So, I know very little about this day, other than it's a holiday. On the news, they said it was the equivalent of the 4th of July. Tell me what you did to celebrate it.

Australia Day is the day Triple J counts down the Hottest 100 (top 100 songs of the year, as voted for by listeners) and most people sit around, or go to a park for a barbie and alcohol. You're not supposed to drink in public, but on Australia Day, it's somehow okay.

Stuart went to work in the morning, in the afternoon we went to the park. We drank slurpees, not alcohol, because I still don't really get the point of drinking. Once I turned 18, it's stopped being fun and rebellious, blah, blah, blah.

Oh, and it's also known as 'Invasion Day', if you're super PC. A few years ago all the lefties were calling it this, but I think patriotism has over-ruled a lot of the political correctness.

Yep. Definitely sounds like the 4th of July. Except, instead of Triple J counting down the hits, it's Z-100. And it's the top 300 or so. And they keep repeating it all damned day! Then whoever has a barbecue throws some form of meat on it, people guzzle beer (except me. I hate beer. But I fo the barbie thing, so I'm fine with that.) Oh, and when it gets dark, fireworks are set off EVERYWHERE! It scares the crap out of my poor cat.
