Because I'm shy!
Actually I lock most of my stuff and never really considered unlocking this. Have I broken an unwritten rule?

No, not at all. I was just hoping that cause this is an open community and all, everyone would be okay with sharing their work. Specially since this is an essay that a lot of people really might be interested in reading.

Great Essay.

I wonder how much contact Charlie has with Muggles in his job. He knows our cultural cues, which leads me to believe that he doesn't lead a wizarding life. Not like his parents.

Do you think he is the norm? If he is, then the WW is on its last legs and will end by mid-century.

I wouldn't think he's the norm, (I'm just guessing here, I don't really have a lot to back this up on), but I'd say he's common enough that he won't be shunned by anyone other than the more conservative. Like Ginny as the popular everygirl was all for it, even though she didn't wear it herself, whereas old fashioned and out dated Molly was being all mumsy about it.

And that's an interesting thought! I'd never really thought it through that far, but now that you mention it, he probably does have a dual culture thing going on.

And thanks!

I was a little worried that I might have strayed from the original question too much but this was all I could come up with so I had to go with it. So I'm really glad you like it!

Interesting. I think you're on a good track about the younger generation being more open to Muggle fashion

small nitpick : Charlie Weasley is an example of a young wizard who wears modern muggle fashion as a matter of custom. When Charlie visits his wizarding parents there is no need for him to wear muggle clothes but he does so anyway.
I think this should be Bill, as the passage you quote definitly refers to Bill :)

That's very interesting. The one other thing that I'd like to know about is Molly's knitting habits. I just can't imagine wearing a hand-knitted jumper over a robe. That always makes me wonder about Molly, even though she complains about Bill's clothes.

Yes, I've wondered about that too.
