Found your post via atthesametimeI had been pondering the sexism charges that many Clinton supporters were bringing up, because I couldn't think of any direct examples of sexism, until I saw this video. I don't pay any attention to the "news" channels, so most of these comments had passed me by unnoticed ( ... )

i don't watch the news either, and i was surprised too. but i think this montage doesn't so much show 'examples of sexism,' as it shows that sexism is so institutionialized that this sort of thing can happen on a daily basis without recourse. it frightened me.

it's creepy that instead of resulting in a mass consensus that matthews and (i guess) tucker are chauvinist assholes as you rightly point out, their behavior gets them power prestige and the ability to represent their chauvinism as acceptable.

god, that part where Tucker Carlson says he doesn't feel embarrassed that there are so few women elected officials... that will stick with me for a long time.

Casual sexism and mysogyny is everywhere, and most people treat it as normal. This is disgusting. It is unacceptable to make racist statements about Obama, and it is equally unacceptable to make sexist comments about Clinton.

"Misogyny"
Obviously, my poor spelling is due to the fact that I have ovaries.

this video is slanted. it shows the conservative point of view (all the clips are from "conservative" news outlets) as opposed to the actual male point of view. let's not kid ourselves we all know how conservatives think (i can totally envision a conservative housewife saying the same things.) this is all just anti-hillary rhetoric designed to bring her down...political posturing if you will. if she was a republican candidate i guarantee you they wouldn't be saying the same thing...tucker carlson as well as the whole fox news group are NOT taken seriously by the general media. they are just glorified "shock jocks" they have no power or prestige. believe me. i don't even think tucker has a job anymore.

I don't know about this, there could easily have been clips of Keith Olbermann in there and he is revered by leftist bloggers.

And Tucker Carlson definitely still has a job. He's a top political analyst at MSNBC.

i totally and completely disagree. i don't think olbermann would say something like that and "top political analyst" is the title they give to people whose show was canceled. he essentialy does not have a job. regardless, my point was that those people don't count. they are a joke. you can give them power if you want. that's what they want.

I watch Olbermann's show (irregularly but a few times a month) and he is constantly calling women "sluts" and "whores". Or commenting on how older women are ugly. It is really baffling to me that leftists just completely turn a blind eye to him when he is just as bad if not worse than anything (on a regular basis) shown in that YouTube clip.

I'm not defending Tucker Carlson, but you said he didn't have a job and are now saying anyone who doesn't have their own show doesn't have a job. Okay, well "unemployed" Tucker Carlson is on tv everyday sharing his wonderful insights and probably makes a lot more than you do.
