On perfecting my American accent

So last night, while I was working at the restaurant, a white customer (and I say white because I'm not sure if she's Kiwi or European or a kiwi from the South Island since she seemed different) asked if I was American

LOL, that is awesome! Keep up the good work. ;) Now you probably have a better American accent than I do, even though I'm American. I went through the same thing with watching Lord of the Rings and Jane Austen adaptions, so now everybody thinks I'm from Britain or some other part of Europe.

Hahahaha I'm gonna have to find a British drama to watch to balance out my American. But I think the major clue to American accents is... as pointed out by a classmate of mine: "I think it's because Americans speak out of their nose and New Zealanders speak out of their mouth."
