Things I Appreciate More About My Mother Now That I Am Old

In honor of Mother's Day - early, since now is when I'm thinking of it, which as most of you will know, is no guarantee that I will think of it again on Mother's Day - this is a brief list of things my mother did that, while they irritated me at the time, make sense to me as an adult.

You're so good. I don't remember about the Gunne Sax dresses. I mean, I remember them, but not why you didn't have one. Probably too expensive.... I do remember the boy. My recollection was that he was five or so years older than you, but maybe I exaggerate.

I was allowed the Gunne Sax dress. And the designer jeans--can't remember if it was Calvin Klein or Jordache, one or the other. Oh, and those high heeled Candies shoes. Good lord, the early 80s.
