EARLY HOURS OF WEDNESDAY
The Night Wind almost drags me from the house, his warm hand round mine, and I can hear his blood pumping, hear the muscles in his body strain for me, and the evidence of my interest can be seen through the fine line of my breeches. It has been a long, long time since another being, even a god, held my interest in this way. My desire is like a flame, like a tiger's mouth, like the first blood on the battlefield.
We are outside, the air cool against my Brant skin, but I can see the hectic flush of blood in Tez's face and I smile at him.
"Outside, first," I say decisively, grinning at him in the dark. Later I will do as I promised, mark his skin all over with a crop, but I do not think he could stand that right now. Now is the time for animal teeth and growls and the embrace of dark grass and earth.
I stride out into the fields.
