Gee, I love the internet! I just found an audio clip on youtube of a play my husband and I saw during our honeymoon to London - 25 years ago!

I adore Cumberbatch's Sherlock (and enjoy Rober Downey Jr.'s too, and Johnny Lee Miller's), but I will always love Jeremy Brett's rendition - both on TV and on stage. He was magnificent

I saw Jeremy Brett on stage at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario. He was playing in The Way of the World against Maggie Smith.

You lucky thing! I must admit, I've never seen him in any other role.
*sigh* He had such presence as Sherlock Holmes.

And yes, the more Holmes, the better.

I saw that play in London with Jeremy Brett, too, even before I saw the fabulous tv series. He is THE Holmes. Like you, I am fond of many of the others, too, but Jeremy Brett rules.
