Boring RL update

Does too much TV rot your brain? I've been watching a lot of different TV series, mostly because I am spending Nano-month working on the sequel to my kid's book. Progress is agonizingly slow because I am procrastinating - which makes me depressed, which blocks up my creativity, which leads to late-night TV watching. It's that pesky left side of the ( Read more... )

I haven't watched any of the shows you mention except Shield and Doctor Who. I thought this season of DW was the best since pretty much forever (though there were a few duff episodes). Shield season 2 is much better than season 1. It's actually watchable. ;)

Really? Best DW season? Hmm, maybe it's just me. But I am getting a bit tired of seeing the same villains again and again. More cybermen? The Master in yet another incarnation? There's nothing wrong with Peter Capaldi - I just don't feel like we are still seeing the same character.
I feel the show has lost its roots - I always liked the way the fantastic was anchored by very human and likeable characters. And I am missing that. Characters like Jacky and Wilf....

Shield started out pretty formulaic, but it improved in the second half of the first season. The second season is even better, so yay!

Try Forever. It really has a nice vibe. It makes me cheerful, which is saying something. :)

Whereas for me, it feels like it's got back to its roots. It's far more like the show I watched as a kid (only with much better special effects). :)

I never wanted a DW icon until this season.

Forever is actually a lot more like a mix of Sherlock and New Amsterdam. Though admittedly, New Amsterdam was better.
I still like it though.

Never heard of New Amsterdam, but just googled it. Sounds great! Thanks for the tip.
I think Forever is fun and likeable. Some of the current shows are very dark - this is a bit lighter, and I am grateful for it. :)
