I watched Cloud Atlas and Jupiter Ascending - and found both interesting and worth watching, even partly enjoyable but also quite flawed, but the Wachowskis are at least trying to tell meaningful and original stories instead of just cashing in on a successful franchise.
I hate how every movie or show these days is either a reboot, a sequel, a sequel of a sequel, an adaptation or a tie-in. Sometimes this means we get a whole universe to enjoy, and I really love the Avengers, but sometimes I feel there is not enough new and groundbreaking material out there...
Anyway, Sense8 is brilliant in many ways. It makes me like a large cast - not just the 8 senseates but also their support characters - the way I fell in love with the Firefly cast. *sighs happily*
The large cast was really overwhelming for me in terms of figuring out what was going on and who was who for the first few episodes, but around the middle of ep 4 everything started to gel for me (and the scene where they were all singing the same song was the first moment when I went YES THIS SHOW FOR ME.) I'm watching ep 8 right now. SO GOOD.
Oddly enough I only had problems with the Berlin plotline and the London one - and only at first. When I rewatched the first epi with my hubby everything was crystal clear.
And yes, the singing scene was beautiful. :)
So far, there were several scenes that I found very touching. *high fives you* I am so happy to have a show I can gush about!
