Sure. SUP has been followed by my org´s media watchdog for quite some time now, and the excellent blogger´s article about it is rather benevolent with it, if anything. A lot of my Russian pals are setting up shop elsewhere already. Well, you know what I think about Putin and his minions. Bad enough they´re holding the leash of our Bolshie Government. But if they´re also holding the reins of this so-called journalling space, from now on I´ll post nothing BUT anti-Putin stuff. Toodles! :)

Highly interesting post, which aptly expresses my concerns. I am not particularly fond of having my monies contributed to the oppression of free speech. I feel terrible for the Russians that have or will jump ship because of the sale. Sure, America has changed over the past few years with us being involved in the war and with the raising of right wingers having their heyday. To some extent, it doesn't affect me because I still have a say in what I believe and can say damn loudly if I choose and as a consequence won't feel threatened I will be taken to a pole with my hands bounded up.

I would have left, if there were not friends here that still haven't set up shop somewhere else, but I am hardly posting anyway.

Like you I am feeling with the many Russian users who are now leaving because they no longer feel safe.

So many times this past year or so I have been glad I don't have a paid account and never did have a paid account, because I don't want any of my money going to LJ/6A and now, SUP. LJ remains a transitory space for me. Nothing here can't go elsewhere, or if it disappears forever I won't mourn. The only benefit I've had from LJ is connecting with people, so I hope if people move, they will announce their new spaces. I haven't set up any other journals yet because I'm not posting anything important, and my friends are still here. For now.

I have a paid account, but will not renew. Like you I am still staying because most of my friends are still here. Some of them have set up shop somewhere else. Unfortunately they could not decide where and so they are spread over three different journals.

I would miss perfect_duet

Not really surprising but I have more worries about security. I don't have a paid account but there is enough information on me recorded on lj that identity theft for the purposes of fraud might prove a problem. I gather that Russia, after perhaps Africa is one of the biggest sources of scams and fraud on the internet.

Hm, at the moment everything is still on US servers, but how about you archive your lj on your pc, transfer to another journal and wipe your records as far as possible. I know this is not much, but at least something.

Splendid, simply splendid.

I see you have changed your default icon? Btw, did anything come out of your question for my Adolf Wohlbrück movie?
