I think the fireplace looks heaps better than it did...
Personally I think the mantle looks good the way it is. While the room is a good size, it isn't huge so getting the balance right in making the fireplace a feature and focal point, but not dominating the room is important.
My opinion only of course and I'm looking forward to seeing it all when the job is done. :)
I don't think that you need corbels under the mantlepiece, since they'd detract from the stove. From the pictures of the stove, I think that it might be the same model as the one that Haydyn has in his cottage. Very nice, and I'm more than a little envious.
(didn't realise that you had an LJ - do you know of any other refugees from Warwick on LJ?)
Sorry to take so long reply to this.. Umm Tom.... I dont' have many LJ people in my lists to be honest. I know one or two more who are connected such as Julie who commented here as she works there, but you are probably better off asking Tom.
