Ahhh, the age old problem of how kids learn language and how they problem solve before they learn it eh?! I still think that people all problem solve in very different ways, watching the twins is only convincing me more as they learn to do the same task in totally opposite ways and at different rates though they're both shown it the same time so exactly the same way.
A friend of mine had a little boy who didn't say anything at all, had investigations to see if there was anything physically wrong, speech therapy for kids where they get them to babble and no-one could say why he wasn't talking. Turns out he just didn't have anything to say and now you can't shut him up! Everyone learns things at a different rate and I think it's fuelled by how much you want/have to learn that skill.
We've looked at the vtech stuff for the twins and can't wait until they're a litte older so we can play as well!
My brother didn't talk at all till he was nearly 3 then he was in hospictal for a week and he started talking. His first sentance was 'Is that nurse going to put that thermometer in my bottom again?'
Mum says he didn't need to as I just told her what he wanted all the time.
Children can devlop so differently. My son started to talk pretty late, but he walked when he was nine months old. ANd now, at nearly seven, he has been reading for a year and has a bigger vocabulary than most of his peers.
