Deffinately NOT where I live. I live near LAX. It's expensive to live here and so overcrowded! All the beach cities around here; Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo, El Segundo are out of the question pretty much unless you make pretty good money. I live in Hawthorne which in just inland of those cities, it's cheaper to live here but that's because it's ghetto. OC is pretty expensive as well. I've heard Long Beach is affordable but it has some really bad parts. I'm not very familiar with it.
Ooh, that's kind of tough, because most places near the beach are super expensive (at least in OC and San Diego). I guess it kind of depends on what kind of living conditions you're willing to put up with, though. For the most part I've only been exploring in the "nice" beach places like Laguna Beach/Huntington Beach, and as far as I know, those places are expensive as hell with houses that cost $1mill+. I live in Irvine which is about a 20-25 minute drive from Laguna and Huntington, and my house was over $1 mill. But before moving into this house I lived in an apt that was around $1800 a month. This is the longest comment I've ever left anyone, I hope it was helpful!
Are you saying you have your own $1M house? If you are that's insane hah! Thanks for the advice, yeah I guess I'm not too sure what conditions I can put up with. First off let me put it this way, I was born and raised in a peaceful little 35 000 ppl city with nothing around it (but Maine and Quebec city) and now live in Montreal which has crime but I mean it's not that bad. I kind of am not used to like having to worry about walking by myself at home and shit like that. Monstreal isnt not the cleanest but I live really close to Westmount which has a median income of $190,120 per family and is prettyyyyy, but still rent isn't that bad. I guess what we really want is be close to the water and be sort of close to good places without having to drive too far. I see a lot of houses and cottages for rent and I'm like really in love cause we have a dog, but godddd I'm not sure where to look for a place. This is a novel I'm sorry haha.
Hahah no, it's not my own house. God, I can't imagine how much I'd have to work to get my own million. I really don't know much about houses and prices because usually my parents or my friends do that for me, but all I know is that Newport/Huntington/Laguna are pretty fancy and expensive places. Good luck! And tell me how things go :).
esther- southern california will eat your wallet. I live in Redlands and I pay $850 for a 3 1/2 apartement. If you want to live near the beach, save your money. I dont want to discourage you but its hella expensive. Oceanside is very hippy-ish, too hippy for me, haha. Huntington too. And dirty. By the beach you would be very lucky to find anything thats less than a 1000 a month for a hole in the wall. Sad reality. I hear Fullerton (oc) is pretty affordable ; and maybe 20 minutes from some beaches. Good luck!
