Blogger: Easy, cheap, handles comment spam well, occasional outages, somewhat difficult to export content if you later move to another blogging platform.

TypePad: I've never used it but it seems OK.

WordPress (hosted): Cheap, technically superior, don't know how reliable it is, easy to migrate content if you later decide to host your own blog.

I suggest Blogger if you want easy setup and maintenance, WordPress if you want greatest flexibility and ability to modify your site.

Thank you. Blogger looks better than others considering my total lack of experience with template tweaking(sp?). However, Miriam's blog (blogger platform) is unaccesseble lately due to some spam-blog the page switches to, I wonder how good helpdesk is there in assisting with issues like that.

When Blogger works, which is most of the time, it works well. However, it is poorly supported, and if you have a problem you may be on your own. But probably you will not have many problems, and if you do have problems you can probably get help without depending on Blogger support. (Miriam's blog seems to be back up, after she asked readers for help recommendations.) I think that Blogger is probably a good choice for your purposes.

Yes, now I can see she did ask - but before Scott helped her the message itself was invisible, since the page was immediately redirected to the spammer blog. Besides, I find it inconvinient to be dependent on readers for blog support; what if there are no readers? what if readers are as computer-illiterate as I am? what if I'd asked once, twice, and the third time the readers (understandably) got tired of questions? isn't it the helpdesk' job in the first place?

I think I'll keep collecting data for comparison, in a meanwhile.
