I'm willing to bet the ISPs are going to look at the heavy usage people. I know I read an article a few years ago that said 95% of bandwidth goes to like 5% of customers. If you're not in that 5% I doubt anything will happen to you.

Plus how are they going to know if it's a legal download or not?

Yeah, perhaps. While it's understandable to want to take care of whatever is "illegal" and so forth, there is a very fine line between that and matter about freedom, and it's pretty much that particular part that bothers me, and probably most of the people who are unhappy about all this.

Haha, good point ;)

Miss you, Nora. Hope you're doing well.

I am completely shocked by this article. Not all of my music, but most of the Japanese groups that I listen to, I do have to download off the internet, mostly through torrents. I don't usually download a ton of stuff, just some mp3 files - maybe 3 times a month.

I don't do it by choice either; as you know Min, I'm currently not working and I don't have the money to buy and have these items shipped halfway around the world. Maybe when I have an income steadily I will, but not as of right now. And it's not like my parents don't know, my mom outrightly allows me downloading it, because she agrees that it is too expensive to buy and have shipped.

God, this post just kills me. I may have to look into starting to buy these things for real, but the thought of that is a little daunting. I'd hate to have to stop listening to my favorite artists, but I'm not going to risk getting my internet speed shut down, or slowed down. no way. God, this stuff is way disturbing.

I feel your pain. In lots of cases, that's exactly why we choose downloading. It's not about trying to be cheap; if we had the means to actually purchase them, we would have?

While I'm not sure if I fully understand what they have in plan, I'd still like to believe along the lines of what endohmichi said. Here's to hoping for the best.

I like to think that if I had the means to purchase them, I would - maybe not all of them, but definitly some. I mean, when an American artist releases a CD, even if I only like a few of the songs, I will go out and purchase the normal CD.

what endohmichi said about the 5% makes sense, but how are you supposed to know if you are one of those people? I just don't think I would want to risk it. Also, if it gets to the point where I have to ask for some, I would save and get some as a birthday present from my parents, you know?
