I'm reading all these posts and whatnot about "OMG President Obama" or "I screamed..I cried...I whatever" etc etc etc. I don't get it. Why is everyone so fucking happy. Cause we got a new President....cause we got a black President...cause all the election crap is over with now and we can get back to our regularly scheduled program? why

Part of the reason I don't get involved in politics too much right now, and you're not going to like the answer, but it's basically cause of the job i have. I'm not voting for a president, i'm voting for a boss. And it doesn't matter who sits there, i still have to do my job. I've known quite a few people that have felt the same way, but probably around the next election i'll be a voting machine.
I understand the historical impact of the situation, and i'm glad for him and america that he was nominated, but then again i try hard not to see anything black and white, I just want someone that can do the job and fix shit.
Like I said, i'll be happy or sad in 6 months to a year, of course i'll be in Italy during that time.
