here "Sure do, Boss." Reno grabbed Sephiroth's arm and steered the confused AI to stand in front of the desk. "This here is a true, genuine AI, yo!"
"I see." Rufus' voice was even, but to those who knew him, namely his TURKs, he was sitting just a little bit straighter and he had a certain gleam in his eyes that showed up whenever he was about to secure a deal, be it business or otherwise.
"Right," this time it was Cloud who stepped up, "so you're interested in a purchase, yes?"
Before Rufus could answer, Sephiroth swung his head around to stare at Cloud, silver braid flying behind him. "Cloud?" he asked, wide eyed and confused, "What is this about?" When Cloud refused to give an answer or even look in the AI's direction, Sephiroth started to take a step towards the blond but was halted by Reno's tightening grip. Sephiroth snapped his head around and growled, "Unhand me!" at Reno, eyes glowing brighter than before. With a jerk he yanked his arms out of Reno's grasp and faced Cloud again. "Master, if I have done something that displeases you, you only need to tell me and I shall correct myself."
Rufus watched the entire exchange through narrowed eyes and said slowly, "I trust you have a solution for this problem?"
"Look at it this way," Yuffie intervened, patting Sephiroth's shoulder consolingly, "you're going to a better place. ShinRa's the richest company on the planet, you know. This here are so~ much nicer than they are back at our place."
Sephiroth shook his head. "I'm afraid it's not possible either way. Should my current master wish to be rid of me and transfer ownership he must first activate the Override program to register everything in the Main Database," he recited in a monotone voice.
Reno nodded his head and tapped a foot impatiently against the ground, "Yeah, he was saying something about that Override program when we activated him."
"I see." Rufus leaned forward, resting his chin on top of his folded hands. "And where might this Override program be?"
"Well that's the thing, yo, he said something about it being in the manual but there wasn't anything else in the box he came in."
Rufus sighed and rubbed his temples in irritation. Dealing with Reno was like dealing with a small child; you had to explain everything very carefully, sometimes more than once and even then Reno didn't always get it. Either that or he choose not to get it...a small retarded child. "Reno, what did I tell you about bringing me defective artifacts?"
Cloud's eyes narrowed. "With all due respect, sir," the emphasis he put on 'sir' caused Rufus to raise an eyebrow, "Sephiroth is not defective. If you're not happy I can certainly take my business elsewhere."
"Now, now, I never said I wasn't interested." Rufus leaned back in his chair. "Reno knows at least that much. However," Rufus held up a hand to forestall whatever comment Reno was about to make, "as the buyer I can only expect 100% perfection. You find a way to transfer ownership and we will discuss the price."
"Great," Yuffie whined, sinking down to sprawl on the floor in what Rufus thought was an undignified manner. "And pigs can fly. How the hell are we supposed to find the Override program!?! Finding Sephiroth was lucky enough as it is!"
"I don't care how you do it, just find it. I can point you in a possible direction, but the fee for that will be deducted from the final transaction." Rufus was, above all, a ruthless business man after all.
Cloud bristled and was about to let Rufus know exactly what he thought of the offer when Yuffie bounced back up and placed a restraining hand on him. "We'll take it!" she told Rufus. When Cloud frowned as was about to protest she hissed, "Think about it, Cloud. This is ShinRa we're talking about! He's gotta be the richest person on the planet! The amount of money we'll make off of this is gonna be more than we've ever made, even with the information fee subtracted!"
Cloud frowned but reluctantly agreed. Rufus nodded, satisfied and ordered, "Tseng, get me the file on the Ancient."
