He enjoys doing all these little things with her.
From cycling to school in the early hours together, inhaling the fresh scent of the morning dews as they sped by - to taking a trip downtown after classes, searching for nothing in particular and just enjoying each other’s company. Sometimes they would sit for hours in the park, just simply watching the events happening around them, before turning to each other and exchanging secret smiles.
He enjoys doing all these little things for her.
During the weekends when he’d help his father at the bakery, he would set aside her favourite sugar donut (and sometimes even slipping in a couple of extra treats when his father isn’t looking) and give it to her as soon as he finishes work - where they would sit under the huge oak tree, reading their own respective books while he steal glances at her every once in awhile.
He would fix her bicycle when he feels the need to and whenever winter comes, he would make sure that her tyres are well equipped for the season, just so she wouldn’t fall down when riding due to the slippery roads.
Naeun notices these little things Taemin does for her.
She too, enjoys the times when they would stay back in the art room and paint together side by side. She enjoys it even more when they would get into one of their usual, childish paint fights and drench each other from head to toe. After cleaning up, she would then gently wipe his face for him, and oddly enough ever since recently, she’s been getting these weird tingly feeling whenever her finger brushes against his skin. She’s known Taemin for practically her whole life, and she’s never felt this shy before, being so approximately close with him.
Perhaps, he feels the same way too. Perhaps, that is why he looks away quickly whenever they lock eyes for more than three seconds long. Perhaps, that is why he stutters when she looks at him with those bright, childlike eyes of hers.
Perhaps, that is the reason why he plants a soft, tender kiss on her cheek for the first time ever, when he drops her off at home after their study session.
Naeun’s eyes widens in surprise. Seeing her reaction, Taemin instantaneously flushes in embarrassment as he quickly apologises.
“I-I’m sorry...” Again, he’s stuttering.
Taking the chance (and courage) Naeun leans forward and closes her eyes, kissing him back lightly on the cheek too. She can feel him stiffening up at her unexpected kiss, and it makes her giggle despite the awkward situation.
“Goodbye,” she says softly, eyes twinkling as she pulls away from him and heads inside in a hurry. At the very last second, she pauses in front of the door and looks over her shoulder for one more time.
Taemin is still standing there, wearing a dazed expression as he absent-mindedly touches his cheek.
