You know when the best time at school is?
The couple of days right after a test or quiz, because then you don't spend 69% of your time wondering whether you have a test or quiz and then, after finally determining that you do (which requires a considerable amount of thought), you spend....*does 100-69 in her head*...29% of your time slacking off, ( Read more... )

y'know, i wanted to apply to Harvard, just so I COULD get a rejection letter. But I didn't want to pay that much. And to be honest, I was expecting at least one rejection letter for some reason, and I didn't get it.

I guess I would observe that league tables are really a rather rough and ready guide. Some league tables I've read have Princeton as the best in the US, despite the fact that Harvard is usually acknowledged as the best in the world. I read another, global league table which has the University of Chicago ahead of Oxford University (UK), which is total rubbish. I've seen UC San Diego put 13th in the world (as far as I can recall), yet other league tables don't rank it that high in the US. MY university loves, just loves, to go on about being in the top twenty in the country, even though this year it hasn't ranked higher than about 28th out of just over 100 ( ... )

UC San Diego put 13th in the world

You have no idea how good that looks to me. But I'm totally over this UCLA-mania now. UC San Diego has one of the strongest biology/biotechnology programs in the state, so I'm not going to complain.

It's like looking out on to a different world.

It is. It's the unknown, yet I know that just beyond that horizon lies new worlds I've never been to. If I could stretch all that way, I could touch Hawaii. And then, Japan. And then, China. Ahhh...it's the feeling that there's more to the world than the little corner in which I've been so conveniently placed.

I always miss it if I can't sea it

:D :D :D :D

I guess I'd be pessimistic if I had three 'x' shaped mouth and a mysterious flashing grey patch above my head.

Man, to me, that ain't pessimism. That's insanity. That icon still makes no sense. The girl looks like she's going to die from starvation or something.

I do hope they aren't too boring. I guess you can always delete them if you want X)First of all, I'd never delete any ( ... )
