Somewhere over the rainbow...

Beanie had her MRI yesterday and thankfully, everything was negative. The poor baby still cannot walk 2 steps without falling down. Her gait is just so...well, she looks like she's just learned to walk. She was markedly worse this morning with her walking, but I think the upper body tremors have subsided a little. I'm glad the tests came back negative. Do they know what's wrong? I'll be thinking of Beanie and sending healing thoughts her way.

googling oms, came across your entry from september 05, which i backtracked to this.

my son, now 15, also has oms. i know how terrifying the stage you write about here is, and it looks like it took you about as long as it did me to get a diagnosis.

how is your girl now?

She is absolutely perfect. We are in the final weaning stages of the IVIg infusions (2 left!) and stopped the steroids on Thanksgiving day (11/2007). She has some residual opsoclonus, but thankfully no sign of full-blown recurrence. As it stands, she's a perfectly normal almost-5-year-old.

It took roughly 4 months to get a diagnosis and that only happened because I googled her symptoms and found Dr. Pranzatelli. The doctors here in Austin were clueless - as is much of the world, I think.
