I went to Tobu and wasn't able to buy the hat I wanted due to no sale on it.  I had a stack of stuff anyway and the salesgirl came up and said something in Japanese and I was like "OK"...so she took my stuff and took it behind the counter and started folding it. I gave up and went and got all the same stuff again and took it into the dressing room ( Read more... )

Wow, sounds like that was a rough day. No idea what that sales lady was thinking but her actions still seem pretty weird. I assume that people try stuff on before they buy it in Japan so I'm not sure what all the confusion was about.

The ice cream incident was a downer too, I'm sure but at least you got it taken care of which is great! Is Baseball Park the one with popcorn in the ice cream? I'm glad you're getting better and better at getting stuff done in Japanese. Very cool, baby and it definitely should be a point of pride.

yeah its teh popcorn one...it tasted ok but i wouldnt get it again...i had to try it tho. my curiousity was overwhelming.

sounds like a :/ experience shopping and beyond...

does anything fit in Japan? From what you've said its so hard to shop for "Western" bodies.

What about like near Okinawa (I think that is somewhere hella far, tho) or some other place where a lot of foreigners are?
