Cancer took Nixon's puppy raiser the exact same way as your your friend. He beat it each three times, but last time, Easter 2009, lost the battle. He was the strongest and most amazing guy I got a chance to spend a few days with before things went down hill the following week after my visit.

I am blessed to know him, as he was there for the "main" raiser, the mom and daughter, who were able to train my dog's basic obedience, socialization and bathroom duties before his formal trianing days and being matched with me.

A dear deafblind friend died of brain cancer the same month I started college. I know she was definitely watching me struggle through college and reach to the top and make it and graduate ... being the first deafblind person to graduate at my college.

These people are my angels now.

HUGS

oh, cyber hugs to you and your friend. There are people in our lives who change us for the better, and when they are gone it is so awful. You wrote very movingly of her, honoring her with your words.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My own mother beat breast cancer and has been cancer free for a little more than 2 years now but rarely a day goes by that I don't worry about it coming back. Thank you for this story... it truly is moving. And though I am so sorry for the pain and loss you feel, I'm so glad that you had the opportunity to share part of your life with her, to make these wonderful memories with her. And I'm sure she's very, very proud of you.
