Letter to John Edwards (his campaign, anyway)

Today, I got a letter from John Edwards' campaign highlighting his desire to expose and eventually diminish poverty in America. This letter asked for responses with stories regarding constituents' experiences with poverty. This is what I sent him:

That was just fantastic. Short, concise, but thorough: it highlighted the problems faced by millions of unrecognized Americans. I heard this year that just recently, it has been recognized by social scientists that the majority of American households are not "traditional," meaning that the majority, of course, now don't include a married couple, but a small group of legally unattached adults, relationships involved or not. The conservative elements of this country don't want to give up fighting for "their America," as shown by all the bigoted anti-civil union laws passed in '04. But they've already lost, and it's about time national politicians figure this out.
