It wasn’t so much of a want as a need to sometimes be outside when the night fell. She had become so used to open spaces at night that it was hard for her to always be inside, closed within four walls. He understood that change within her now. Being lost for so long in the past had made her a little wilder, and he accepted it. When she felt the pull and felt that overwhelming drive to get out, he never argued or tried to change her mind about it. It didn’t matter how cold it was outside or what kind of day they had. When she looked at him with that look in her eyes, he would bundle them up in coats, grab a weapon and take her hand. Once outside, he’d follow where she led, always keeping a careful eye on her and the night around them. When their eyes met in the moonlight, he would once again be so thankful that she had managed to make it back home. Just for those glimpses of her eyes full of life and a certain wildness, Becker would endure any kind of weather if his Abby was with him.
